"Proportional elections are necessary step for democratic development of the country", Giorgi Gakharia said.
The Prime Minister said lawmakers should make a decision today and realize the importance of proportional system.
"I would like to say that we have already stated our position on proportional elections. Our views have not changed. I hope that every Member of the Parliament fully understands the responsibility they have for the democratic development of the country and towards each and every one of our citizens", Gakharia stated.
Constitutional amendments on proportional electoral system will be put to the vote at the first hearing today.
