Georgian President criticizes government

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili criticized Georgia's government for the statements that in 2024 Georgia will apply for membership in the European Union.

President Zurabishvili says this decision was not discussed with either her or the opposition.

She added that such a future should be created together.

"The issue of applying for membership in the European Union in 2024 was not discussed not only with the opposition, it was not even discussed with the President of the country. If we do not create such a future together, we will not be able to overcome the occupation and carry out Euro-Atlantic integration," Salome Zurabishvili stated.

Earlier, on March 28, the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, said that in 2024 Georgia will submit an official application for full membership in the European Union.
