Nikol Pashinyan becomes PM of Armenia

Armenian President Armen Sargsyan has appointed Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister. According to local media, the President signed the relevant decree today.

The newly convened Parliament of Armenia held its first sitting today.

The ruling party, "Civil Contract," which won the election, has an absolute majority. Seventy-one deputies represent Pashinyan's party. Robert Kocharyan's nationalist bloc "Armenia" won 29 seats, while Serzh Sargsyan's bloc "I have honor" has seven seats.
