Australian doctor talks about dangers of frequent bathing

Australian doctor Sam Hay said frequent bathing of children is dangerous, The Mirror reports.

The expert said that although bathing helps remove dead skin cells from the baby's skin, protects against unpleasant odors, and does not open the pores, excessive exposure to water and soap may dry out the skin and cause many diseases.

He noted that there is no need to bathe a baby daily. Taking a bath is recommended every two or three days.

The doctor said that the frequency of bathing depends on a number of factors such as climate, the cleanliness of the baby, and his activity. For example, in winter, cold air dries the skin, so it is better to take a bath for a short time and not in hot water. He also urged parents to bathe their children if they get dirty.

"Mud irritates the skin and contains bacteria, causing more serious problems such as eczema or skin infections. Eczema needs to be controlled because frequent bathing can dry out the skin and make the situation worse," the doctor said.

The expert recommended to parents that it is necessary to reduce daily bathing and soap to prevent skin problems. Bath oil and moisturizer can be used instead.
