Amiran Gamkrelidze: Those infected with Omicron did not need resuscitation

"More than half of the cases of Omicron infection have been detected by a rapid test," says Amiran Gamkrelidze, the director of the National Center for Disease Control.

According to him, there is no pressure on the hospital sector at this stage, although the epidemiological situation is deteriorating.

"Omicron is lighter than Delta, so there is no pressure on the hospital sector yet. The number of beds occupied is around 4 300. Also, the number of seriously ill people in hospitals is not increasing. We had a total of 12 cases of hospitalization, of which ten have already been discharged, two remain in the clinic. None of the people infected with Omicron needed intensive therapy or resuscitation," says Amiran Gamkrelidze.
