The man, who was found guilty of sexual acts against a 5-year-old child by the Tbilisi Court of Appeals and sentenced to 13 years in prison, according to the victim's parents, hid from the police.
Family members are demanding the arrest because they believe the 55-year-old man may commit the crime again.
"If he were innocent, he would not run away and wait for the verdict. Running away proves his guilt. I ask the police to catch him. As for the child, the psychological condition is severe," a family member said.
The Tbilisi Court of Appeals upheld the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office, overturned the acquittal of the Gurjaani District Court of the summer of 2019. A 55-year-old A.A. was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
