Boris Chochiev, 64, who has held a number of de facto posts in Georgia's occupied Tskhinvali region, has died of coronavirus, Report News Agency informs referring to Ossetian media outlets. He was at hospital for a few days for treatment, but doctors failed to save him.
Chochiev presided over the Ethnic Issues Committee and the South Ossetian group of the control commission for resolving the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.
After the war of 2008, he was involved in negotiations. He also was at the helm of the de facto presidential administration.
