"Congratulations! Lasha Talakhadze (+109 kg) is the European champion!" Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili posted on his Facebook page.
He wished success to the Georgian Weightlifting Team in the upcoming competitions.
"At the European Championships in Moscow, the Georgian weightlifter lifted a weight of 485 kg (snatch - 222 kg, clean and jerk - 263 kg) following the double event results and won a gold medal!
Lasha lifted 222 kg in the snatch, set a new world record, and received a gold medal. He also won the gold medal for the clean and jerk and brought the Georgian team three gold in total," Garibashvili wrote.
