"A coronavirus-infected mother died at Bokeria Medical Center in Tbilisi. A 34-year-old woman was admitted to the clinic for premature birth. Doctors were not able to save the baby either," Aleksi Vachadze, the clinical director of Bokeria Clinic, told Report.ge.
He said the 34-year-old woman was 29-30 weeks pregnant and was taken to hospital with respiratory failure. Due to deteriorating health, it was decided to transfer her to the intensive care unit. After that, the baby's condition worsened, which led to a caesarean section. Unfortunately, neither the baby nor the mother could be saved.
