The novel coronavirus claimed 39 in the past 24 hours, Georgian official Berdia Sitchinava said.

"Unfortunately, we saw 39 deaths in the past 24 hours. The novel virus has killed 2,352 people since its outbreak," Sitchinava stated.

The country detected 1,784 new cases in the past 24 hours, and the registered number hit 220,508.

The number of recoveries increased by 4,119, while the total number reached 200,339.

Georgia observed the first case of the novel coronavirus infection on February 26, 2020.

The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11.

The pneumonia-causing infection outbreak began in China in December 2019.

On January 21, 2020, China confirmed the virus's human-to-human transmission and declared a quarantine in its two cities.
