Around 80,000 citizens over 60 have received their coronavirus jabs over the last month, according to NCDC Chief Amiran Gamkrelidze. He stressed that 60-year-olds and older citizens account for 85% of COVID deaths.
To a journalist's question whether, like senior citizens, young people will also receive pecuniary incentives, Gamkrelidze said that no similar initiative has yet been put forward.
The government started giving monetary incentives to citizens over 60 on Nov 9. All citizens getting jabs before Jan 1 will get GEL 200.
