A few minutes ago, a train moving in the direction of Tbilisi-Zugdidi hit a woman under 60. The accident took place in the village of Nojikhevi, Khobi Municipality, on the railway section.
The woman was crossing the Khobistskali bridge. As a result of the collision, she died on the spot and fell into the river.
Police, as well as ambulance and rescue teams, are mobilized on the spot. Rescuers are looking for the body in the river Khobistskali.
Eyewitnesses said the woman was presumably deaf because she did not react to the sound of the driver's horn. A handbag belonging to the deceased was found on the bridge. She got identified according to the documentation.
According to the dispatcher, the driver informed about the incident:
"I started the train, and after a while, the driver called me and said he killed a woman. The accident happened in the area of the river Khobistskali; I do not know any other details yet," the dispatcher said.
As the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Report.ge, the case is being investigated under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
