Extreme weather in Georgia leads to traffic restrictions on highways

Traffic restrictions have been imposed on Georgia's highways, according to the Roads Department of Georgia.

Due to extreme weather and avalanche risks, all modes of transport have been banned from the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars road of international significance, while on the Mleta-Gudauri section, traffic flow is allowed non-stop only.

Due to intense snow and low temperatures, trailers and semi-trailers have so far been prohibited on the Rikoti tunnel road sections.

Trailers and semi-trailers have also been banned from the Khashuri-Atskuri, Sachkere-Oni, Kutaisi-Tkibuli-Ambrolauri, Lentekhi-Mele, Khaishi-Kala, Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda, and Akhalkhalakhi-Kartsakhi road sections.

All vehicles have been banned from the Koirsha-Shatili, Kala-Ushguli road sections, and the Paravani mountain chain.
