Georgia is holding the position of the Chairman of the Council of Europe. Regarding the chairmanship, Georgian Dream is launching a youth week.

The Youth Week will be opened today at 20.00 with a concert in the renovated Orbeliani Square. Various events are planned in Tbilisi and regions within the framework of the week organized by the Georgian Dream Youth Organization. Information campaigns on themes like "Why Europe?" will be held, as well as action-performances, street painting festival and more. Youth Week will be closed on December 7 in Tbilisi.

Georgia will be the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe starting from November 27 until May 15, 2020. Georgia took over France at the meeting of the Council of Europe. This is the first time in the history of independent Georgia that the country has taken over the chairmanship of the international organization. During this period, Georgia will organize up to 20 events within the framework of the Council of Europe.

Georgia, as the part of European civilization, reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the Council of Europe.

Georgia has 4 main priorities for the Presidency:

1. Human rights and environmental protection;

2. Civic engagement in decision making;

3. Child-oriented justice system - European experience in restorative justice;

4. Strengthening democracy by involving education, culture and youth.
