Georgia has detected 396 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection, and the number of infected reached 268,097, StopCov.ge reports.

A total of 469 people recovered, with the total number hitting 261,066.

The virus claimed nineteen lives in the past 24 hours, and the number of the death toll equaled 3,425.

Georgia conducted 18,015 tests in the past 24 hours, including fast antigen tests equaling 11,021 and PCR tests – 6,994.

Test positivity rates are as follows:

Daily – 2.2%

Over the past 14 days – 2.6%,

Over the past seven days – 2.4%

A total of 212 people are in quarantine, while 1,948 are in hospital. A total of 238 people are in clinical hotels.

Georgia observed the first case of the novel coronavirus infection on February 26, 2020.

The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11.

The pneumonia-causing infection outbreak began in China in December 2019.

On January 21, 2020, China confirmed the virus's human-to-human transmission and declared a quarantine in its two cities.
