Georgian cinematographers support Levan Akin and his film

Georgian cinematographers have released a statement with regard to Levan Akin's film.

The authors of the statement express their solidarity to filmmaker Levan Akin and his "And Then We Danced" feature.

"It is inadmissible to restrict artistic freedoms in modern Georgia! Issuing threats and preaching violence, with this coming into conflict with the legislation of Georgia, is totally unacceptable!

We do call upon all corresponding state agencies not to let organised criminal groups hinder the creative group members and the public from entering the cinema or anyhow endanger them. We also do require that safe conditions be provided in which the film will be shown.

We voice solidarity with the film actors and actresses and all citizens, who because of the status quo, have been subjected to aggression and hate speech.

No censorship or discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc. shall any longer exist in modern Georgia," reads the statement.
