Georgian doctor says stiffening coronavirus restrictions a must

"Our today's reality is the extremely serious epidemiological situation; we are nearing the peak, and our healthcare sector is likely to collapse under the strain of coronavirus," Georgian professor at Mississippi University and doctor Zurab Guruli said after today's meeting with the Prime Minister and experts in the healthcare field.

In Guruli's words, the only way out of this immensely serious situation is stiffening restrictions.

Georgia recorded 3,128 cases in the past 24 hours to bring the total tally to 111,818. A total of 3,045 patients have recovered, with their number increasing to 92,215.

The country has registered 1,051 deaths (39 recent).
