Georgian Senior Adviser to Norway's Health Ministry expands on COVID 'Variant of Concern'

Senior Adviser to the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Norway, Zaza Tsereteli, has elaborated on the so-called delta COVID strain and the danger of its possible spread.

''Georgia must be extremely cautious when it comes to the so-called delta strain. Today morning the UK published a study showing that the delta COVID variant has resulted in doubled cases every 11 days despite the vaccination process running smoothly. The strain is extremely contagious, especially in young people, including unvaccinated citizens.

Even vaccinated people often catch the disease. The vaccination rate in Georgia is extremely low, while in the UK, more than 60% is vaccinated; however, delta strain has already doubled there,'' he declared.
