Giorgi Gakharia: There is nothing funny here

"Today, we have 38 infected patients. Probably this is a record number. Twenty-two of them is from Batumi, from one institution. The situation goes as we predicted - with the increase of mobility, the number of infected people is increasing," the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, said at the Interagency Coordination Council meeting.

The head of government stressed that today, the main task is to manage this process with minimal risks.

"The most important thing is that the school year will start in the nearest future. With the start of the school year, mobility will increase even more, especially in large cities. Here, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, municipalities, epidemiologists, and the Ministry of Education, need to be fully mobilized to manage this process with minimal risks. However, it is understandable, and we all see that these measures, which, unfortunately, have become our daily routine - masks, social distance, people are slowly forgetting them. Therefore, we need to take strong informational steps on this, and we must convey this to our people, to the citizens, that it is our responsibility. We all need to understand that personal, social distance in enclosed spaces is, unfortunately, necessary and accompanying our daily lives to manage the epidemic as effectively as we have done so far and to enable the economy to recover appropriately.

All this is very important, and there is nothing funny here. We have to take this seriously, and we all need to understand that we have a responsibility to each other and the children and then to our elderly," said the Prime Minister.
