To prevent and respond effectively to the possible spread of the new coronavirus, the government of Georgia issued a decree and approved an action plan.

Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, temporarily suspended direct flights from China to Georgia from January 28 until March 29, 2020, to prevent the possible spread of coronavirus in Georgia.

Each agency has to take appropriate steps within its competence. The Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia will coordinate the events. The Ministry of Finance of Georgia will have to allocate financial resources if necessary, including the Reserve Fund of the Government of Georgia.

The plan includes the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other government agencies.

According to the Prime Minister's press service, the action plan also aims to provide the public and the media with the right information. The Georgian Public Broadcaster should give the public accurate and necessary information on reducing the risk of coronavirus and its impact.
