Head of the national group of technical advisors for immunization, Ivane Chkaidze, said that out of the total number of infected, children and adolescents in the 0-18 age range account for 9.5-10%, with this implying that 40,000 children and adolescents have so far caught the virus in Georgia.
In the professor's words, The US tops other countries worldwide with its number of infected children and adolescents.
''The last week's data showed that 16.8% were children among coronavirus patients, and this is an extremely high number. A few weeks earlier, the number stood at 14.2%, but after the delta variant started circulation in the country, the number grew.
In Georgia, the figure is relatively low, but 40,000 infected children and adolescents for Georgia cannot be defined as few,'' Chkhaidze declared.
