The novel coronavirus has an immensely low mortality rate if not for risk groups, especially in children, Bidzina Kulumbegov, the medical doctor at the Center of Allergy and Immunology Center, said.

According to Kulumbegov, parents may remain calm, for the disease hardly poses a lethal threat to their children. However, they should be vigilant.

"In the case of any symptoms that may pose a danger to health, such as breathing problems, rashes, diarrhea, vomiting, especially if a child suffers from underlying health conditions, must lead to their transportation to a hospital. This is important at the initial stage," Kulumbegiv said, adding "in the case of a failure to contact your doctor when a child shows symptoms, take him or her to the hospital reception. No one will condemn you for this."

Recently, a 12-year-old, who, reportedly, had no underlying conditions, has died of the new coronavirus in the Batumi municipality.
