The officers of Kobuleti District Division of Adjara Police Department, as a result of investigative actions, detained N.T., born in 1997, based on a judge's ruling. He is accused of having sexual intercourse with an individual under the age of sixteen.
The offense carries a maximum sentence of 7 to 9 years in prison.
"The investigation has established that the accused had sexual intercourse with a girl born in 2006 under the age of 16 in Kobuleti municipality with prior knowledge.
The investigation is underway under Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on the fact of penetration of sexual character into the body of a juvenile under the age of sixteen," the statement said.
