According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the officers of Kutaisi City Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi, and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, as a result of operative-investigative actions, detained I.S., born in 1996, convicted many times in the past on charges of attempted premeditated murder.
According to the agency, the offense carries a maximum sentence of 7 to 15 years in prison.
"The investigation established that the accused, on February 24 of 2021, in Kutaisi, during a fight with a friend who was visiting him, inflicted wounds on the body of I.G., born in 1978, using a cold weapon and fled the scene. Law enforcers arrested the accused on hot pursuit within hours of the incident—the wounded man undergoing treatment at a medical facility died on March 10. The accused pleads guilty. Police seized the weapon of the crime - a knife as evidence. The fact of attempted premeditated murder is being investigated under Article 19-108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
