The MIA of Georgia has released a statement saying that it will exert strenuous efforts to ensure a safe environment at the Tbilisi Pride event.

According to the statement, representatives of the MIA are in touch with the event organizers, and for the purposes of guaranteeing a safe situation at the event, they have convened a working meeting at which Deputy Interior Minister Alexandre Darakhvelidze, patrol police department director Vazha Siradze and other representatives of the ministry were present. At the meeting, the planned events within the framework of the parade were discussed.

''The MIA will take the corresponding measures to ensure a safe environment at the event, maintain order and protect the right of each citizen to freedom of expression which will not go beyond the law,'' the statement by the MIA reads.
