The MIA of Georgia has issued a special statement in which it calls upon Anti-Namakhvani HPP protesters to obey the law and remain calm.
''The police will take action within their mandate and respond to any instance of a law violation.
MIA employees are deployed in the Rioni gorge to ensure public order and avoid purposeful escalation of the situation.
The MIA once again calls upon demonstrators to abide by the police's lawful demands and do not go beyond what is allowed by the law,'' the statement reads.
Tensions flared up in the Gumati village after Anti-Namakhvani HPP protesters attempted to cross the area where the police had installed the steel barriers.
