According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Coast Guard and NATO ships conducted joint naval exercises in the Black Sea.

The exercise was part of a port visit by Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2).

Island-class patrol boats of the Coast Guard Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Dioscuria and Ochamchire and the ships of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2: REGINA MARIA (Romania), KEMALREIS (Turkey), and SMELI (Bulgaria) took part in the joint naval maneuvers.

The exercises aim to increase the level of mutual compatibility between the naval units of Georgia and the member and partner countries of the Alliance.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the visit of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 in Georgia is a clear message of support for our country. It is important that NATO naval visits to Georgia's Black Sea ports are regular, which is one of the tangible results of NATO-Georgia cooperation in strengthening Black Sea security.

The joint exercises were carried out in full compliance with the National Center for Disease Control recommendations.
