New Georgian COVID strain discovered, says Burn Center Head

Head of the Burn Center Guga Kashibadze says in his social media post that a new Georgian coronavirus strain has been discovered in Israel.

''Get vaccinated!!!

A new COVID variant of Georgian origin has been found in Israel. It is yet unknown whether the Georgian strain is more contagious and aggressive than delta,'' Kashibadze says in his Facebook post.

It is noteworthy that Deputy Head of the NCDC of Georgia Paata Imnadze says that no Georgian COVID strain exists and the so-called delta variant has been detected in the country instead.

According to the Israel Ministry of Health, 12 people have been diagnosed with delta plus, with a majority of them having returned from Georgia.
