"Another step forward in restoring the full-fledged population of this species in Georgia! Little goitered gazelles are feeling great," the Agency for Protected Areas wrote on the social network.

"Newborns are very difficult to find within 2-3 weeks of birth. They are safely hidden in the grass and leave the place only in extreme cases. Obtaining these photos is the result of great willpower, patience, and observation. Goitered gazelles are careful and curious beings. Mothers only approach newborns if they feel no threat. Goitered gazelle became extinct in the 1960s.

Since 2013, at the Vashlovani National Park, with the initiative of the Georgia government and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), with the financial support of the German government (BMZ, KfW) and the active involvement of the Azerbaijani government, began the goitered gazelle restoration project. Vajiko Kochiashvili, a specialist in the monitoring of goitered gazelles, took the pictures," the statement said.
