National Statistics Office of Georgia has updated its report on demographics. According to the report, 6,387 couples got married in January-June this year, while the number of divorces is 3,441.

In the first half of 2020, the number of registered marriages decreased by 39.1%, while the number of divorced couples decreased by 35%.

National Statistics Office of Georgia receives data on demographics from administrative sources.

In the first half of this year, marriages and divorces are distributed in the regions as follows:

• Tbilisi - 1,822 couples got married, 1,273 divorced;

• Imereti - 1,073 couples got married, 626 divorced;

• Kvemo Kartli - 682 couples got married, 285 divorced;

• Adjara - 665 couples got married, 241 divorced;

• Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti - 598 couples got married, 343 divorced;

• Kakheti - 455 couples got married, 228 divorced;

• Shida Kartli - 419 couples got married, 195 divorced;

• Samtskhe-Javakheti - 313 couples got married, 82 got divorced;

• Guria - 184 couples got married, 85 divorced;

• Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 120 couples got married, 57 divorced;

• Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 56 couples got married, 26 divorced;
