Patriarchate issues statement ahead of Easter holiday

With Easter nearing, The Press Office of the Patriarchate of Georgia has released a statement on precautionary measures citizens, and the clergy must take ahead of the holiday.

The statement says that everyone has to observe the 23:00 May 1- 04:00 May 2 curfew.

The congregation visiting churches will have to wear facemasks and keep a safe social distance.

The statement goes on to say that risk groups may stay at home, and their priests will visit them to consecrate the Eucharist.

At the end of the statement, religious leaders are asked to sprinkle holy water on cemeteries on May 3, as social mobility restrictions will be in place during the holiday.

Following the decision by the Interagency Coordination Council, a change has been introduced to the regulation on social mobility restrictions.
