The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has been vaccinated against coronavirus live.
The President was vaccinated at the Infectious Diseases, AIDS, and Clinical Immunology Research Center.
As Salome Zurabishvili noted, she got vaccinated to set an example. The President called on the public to get vaccinated.
"I got this vaccine without being in any queue today. It was not supposed to be for the President as I do not belong to the group which has to get vaccinated first. There are doctors, nurses, and medical workers who have gone through challenging months and need to be vaccinated not to be contagious and protected as a lot depends on them.
The vaccination of the following groups will start, and if we want to get out of the dire economic consequences, it is necessary to use this opportunity, which has been given to us, to protect society and the country and get out of this crisis. I wish you all good health. I am sure that we will overcome this challenge," said the President.
Vaccination against COVID-19 has been underway in Georgia since March 15.
43,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine got delivered to Georgia on March 13.
