"I would like to express solidarity to our population in occupied Abkhazia, which also suffered from the pandemic and the fire," Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said in a statement.

Zurabishvili says she appreciates values the courage and resilience with which the local population copes with a difficult situation.

"It is challenging when the population affected by the pandemic now has to fight fires. I sympathize with all our citizens living in different regions of Georgia.

Without separating from them, I want to express solidarity to our population in occupied Abkhazia, which also suffered from the pandemic and fire.

I want you to know that I am by your side, and I appreciate the steadfastness with which you confront this difficult situation today," Zurabishvili said in a statement.

An Abkhaz translation is attached to the president's statement.
