According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, during a pandemic and/or epidemic, wearing a mask becomes mandatory in both closed and open public spaces. The Parliament approved the draft amendments to the Code in the third hearing.
According to the amendments, during a pandemic and/or epidemic, violating the rules of wearing a mask in a closed and open public space will result in a fine of GEL 20.
In case of repeated violation, the amount of the sanction will be GEL 40.
With the amendments approved by the Parliament, the fine will be toughened for the institutions where the user will be allowed to enter again without a mask. In particular, this action will result in a fine of GEL 1,000 for the public space owner.
The current version of the law provided for fines only for indoor spaces.
