"We are already dealing with serious cases of in-country transmission of the novel virus, with symptoms not even displayed in some cases," Gamkrelidze said.
In Gamkrelidze's words visiting treatment centres and hospitals is mandatory as soon as first symptoms are noticed.
"When cases surpass 300, they are expected to grow faster; unless we are alert and social distancing regulations are followed, thousands of citizens will be in need of intensive care at the end of April, and losses will also be expected. Consequently, I call upon the general public to abide by the restrictions," Gamkrelidze stressed.
