According to the statement by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoglu, a 940-meter cargo train, with 82 containters aimed to carry Turkish goods to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan departed from Kars toward Georgia.

“Turkey is playing a significant role in the accomplishment of non-contact regional trade via its railroad amid coronavirus pandemic period. The countries of the region build their trade relations through Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad.

At present, the transportation of significant volumes of cargo is accomplished through this road.

This train is the longest in this line. The first stop is in Tbilisi; then it goes to other countries. The cargo is delivered to Uzbekistan in nine days.

Many countries fail to meet existing demand in their countries due to coronavirus epidemic. These carriages are transporting big volumes of Turkish products, starting from detergent aids and finishing with automobile products,” – said Adil Karaismailoglu.

Reminder: Baku-Tbilisi-Kars rail line was opened on October 30, 2017. The railroad line connects Asia with European railroad net. It is not the shortest way of connecting only three countries but also connecting Asia and Europe. This railroad simplifies connection of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan with European and world markets.

The railroad is 846 kilometres. Five hundred four kilometres go through Azerbaijan, 263 kilometres go through Georgia, and 79 kilometres – through Turkey. Five million tons of cargo transportation is planned at the initial stage with the following increase to seventeen million tons.
