The fall in oil prices was supported by the US Department of Energy data, according to which the commercial oil reserves in the country for the week ending January 7 fell by 4.6 million barrels, or 1.1%, to 413.3 million barrels. The decrease was expected by 1.9 million, with stocks at the lowest level since the week of October 5, 2018, when the figure was 409.9 million barrels.
