The Asian Development Bank (ADB) today approved a loan of 101 million euros (approximately $ 119.9 million) to build new infrastructure and rehabilitate existing ones in Georgia, as well as to improve services in urban centers and increase economic opportunities and quality of life in the country.
The resources provided by the project will be spent on rehabilitating city centers, public places, and parks and improving public transport for better mobility. The project will build libraries, e-learning centers, kindergartens, sports complexes, and other institutions of public importance. The project will be implemented following the ADB's Inclusive Cities Guide to provide universal access and create an adapted environment for the elderly, people with disabilities, women, and children.
The project will also help rehabilitate cultural sites, historic city centers, and other tourist sites. Transport systems will also be upgraded, including the Tbilisi Metro, to promote improved access and tourism, a major driver of the Georgian economy.
