According to the Union of Oil Importers, bitumen imports to Georgia totaled 7.8 thous tons in April 2021, which is 2.8 thous tons or 56% more than the amounts (5 thousand tons) imported in March. 

Of this, 93.6% (7.3 thousand tons) was imported from Azerbaijan and 6.4% or 0.5 thous tons from Turkmenistan. 

In January-April 2021, bitumen imports amounted to 18.1 thous tons, which exceeds the amounts (17.8 thous tons) imported in the same time period of 2020 by 0.3 thous tons or 1.7%. 

Of this, 88.4% (16.0 thousand tons) was imported from Azerbaijan, 6% (1.1 thous tons) from Iraq,  2.8% or 0.5 thous tons from Turkmenistan, and 2.8% (0.5 thous tons) from Russia. 

The Union of Oil Importers says that the figures show bitumen imports have experienced an upward trend in Georgia, which is expected to continue. The representatives of the union also added that Georgia's major supplier of bitumen proves to be Azerbaijan, which has replaced Iran.
