Azerbaijan, World Bank conclude agreement

Azerbaijani authorities and the World Bank have signed an agreement to open World Bank offices in Azerbaijan and put them into operation.

Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov and World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde have signed the agreement. Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Chairman of Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov were also present at the ceremony.

Per Azerbaijani media outlets, the agreement will substantially simplify the World Bank's operation in the country.

PM Ali Asadov said that the partnerships with the World Bank would enable Azerbaijan to become the international association donor helping destitute countries worldwide.

Anna Bjerde also stressed that the World Bank stands ready to support Azerbaijan's economic development priorities before 2030.

2022 marks 30 years since Azerbaijan became a World Bank member.
