Owners of small wine cellars ask the Georgian government for help.

As they say, the epidemic-hit business sees severe problems in marketing that cannot be resolve without government assistance.

As one of the wine cellars owner Tamaz Omanadze told report.ge, the government mainly supports large industries, and small wine cellars remain without assistance.

''We produce the premium-class wine which is certified and largely approved… Small wines are the image of the Georgian wine and the segment is harmed most. We cannot participate in exhibitions although it is a good way to popularize the production,'' Omanadze says, adding he is often invited to exhibitions, but cannot afford the participation price.

He says the government does not ensure propaganda of unique wines produced in family cellars.

''Nobody helps us,'' he says, adding the novel coronavirus reality restricted their contacts, and they have a reduced opportunity to export.

Tamaz Omanadze also says that wine quality control should be stricter.

''Low-quality wine on export destroys all the industry,'' he says.
