Davit Tvalabeishvili elected ESCO director-general

Former Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davit Tvalabeishvili, who was in office from May of 2019 to 25 Dec 2021, has been appointed the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) director-general, Reports News Agency informs, referring to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava, presented the new head of the enterprise.

The minister said that the ESCO CEO is an extremely responsible role, which is why they decided to assign the responsibility to the experienced candidate, former deputy minister Mr. Tvalabeishvili as he is aware of the challenges the sector will face in the future more than others. ''The empowered ESCO team will perform the tasks which envisage further restructuring of the energy sector and its approximation to the European type energy market,'' Turnava declared.

The minister also thanked former ESCO head Zaza Dvalishvili, who remains in the system and now serves as the first deputy director-general.
