Last year, trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan totaled nearly $1 bn, with this being a record-breaking figure, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Zurab Pataradze said at the B2B Forum.
In Pataradze’s words, the two countries must keep strengthening trade and economic ties and developing joint projects serving mutual interests.
The Ambassador also stressed that Georgia and Azerbaijan must efficiently apply Georgia’s free trade agreement with the EU and China. Within joint projects, Azerbaijan will be entitled to free export of its products within Georgian quotas in the Eurozone. Additionally, Georgian and Azerbaijani partners may set up joint businesses in Azerbaijan and export their products, which will be subject to Azerbaijani quotas, in the Middle East, Eurasia, China, India, and other countries worldwide.
Finally, Pataridze emphasized the importance of tourism in Georgia-Azerbaijani relations and mentioned that 1.5 mln Azerbaijani tourists entered Georgia in 2019.
