As reported by the National Bank of Georgia, the total foreign debt of Georgia equaled 18.6 billion USD (53,4 billion GEL) as of December 31, 2019.
The rate is 105.1% of the 2019 Gross Domestic Product.
In the fourth quarter of 2019, the total external debt of Georgia increased by 729.0 million USD.
In the fourth quarter of 2019, Georgia's external debt totaled 7.9 billion USD (22.6 billion USD) that represents 44.4% of the Gross Domestic Product.
The banking sector debt reached 4.5 billion USD (12.9 billion USD), while the other sectors' debt reached 4.7 billion USD.
As for the debt between companies, it included 3.3 billion USD.
A total of 89.6% of the total external debt is denominated in foreign currency.
