Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani has held an introductory meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev.
Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Head of the Revenue Service of the Finance Ministry Levan Kankava, and Head of the Customs Department Mamuka Jangulashvili were present at the meeting.
The parties elaborated upon cooperation-related issues in the bilateral and trilateral formats. The Georgian finance minister pointed out that Azerbaijan is Georgia's strategic partner, to which it is linked with exemplary amiable relations and mutual economic and geopolitical interests.
At the meeting, high officials emphasized the significance of partnerships in the fields of trade, transport, and transit. They also focused on the mutual customs point construction project and coordination-related issues between the customs administrations during the pandemic, which ensured unimpeded delivery of freights in the entire region.
The parties expressed hope that both countries will succeed in managing the pandemic, mitigating its detrimental consequences, and restoring the crippled economies.
