The City Hall has submitted a draft bill to the Tbilisi City Assembly. The draft bill provides for imposing higher taxes on legal persons in Tbilisi for cleaning services.

The said decision is set to enter into force on 1 Jan 2022.

Tbilisi Vice-Mayor Irakli Khmaladze said that taxes would increase for the business sector, commercial business entities, state agencies, and other institutions; however, it will remain unchanged for the household sector.

In Khmaladze's words, 70% of the Tbilisi Energy expenses is channeled into the business sector and 30% household sector. As the vice-mayor said, the time has come when these institutions' payments must equal the expenses Tbilisi Energy sustains to provide them with the corresponding services.

According to Khmaladze, they plan to grant GEL 1,000 vouchers to food facilities and hotels.
