Economist Paata Sheshelidze says that the role of the private sector will be more influential in attracting investments.

As he says, the government measures should include tax policy liberalization and the flexible judiciary.

He states that the probability of foreign enterprises to enter the Georgian market is low, and the emphasis should be put on the development of local production.

"It is still early to suppose that Chinese or other companies will show interest in Georgia's investment market,'' he says, adding it is unlikely China will open companies in Georgia.

''Georgia can develop raw materials processing enterprises,'' he said, adding that it requires a proper management system.

''The private sector should do it, it is important. The government may ensure support, but, it is a prerogative of the business sector,'' Sheshelidze stated.

As Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava said earlier, the Georgian government works to ensure the growth of investments in 2021. She hinted at the Chinese market.
