Natia Turnava: Azerbaijan remains one of the main trading partners

Within the framework of a working visit to Azerbaijan, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava met with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, during which bilateral trade and economic issues and priority areas of cooperation were discussed.

"Azerbaijan remains one of our main trading partners. In the first ten months of 2021, bilateral trade increased by 16 percent, while exports to Azerbaijan increased by 22 percent. Azerbaijan is a particularly important market for Georgian exports, and I was once again given the opportunity to talk about a regime for more free entry of Georgian products into the Azerbaijani market. There are many technical issues in this regard, which my colleague promised to resolve," said Natia Turnava.

Special emphasis was also placed on Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey trilateral cooperation at the meeting.

"We, the three countries - Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey - have many large joint regional projects - in the field of oil and gas, railway. This is a great opportunity to exchange once again views on how to make our mutual economic cooperation even more fruitful and, most importantly, to establish more contacts between Georgian and Azerbaijani businesses," noted Natia Turnava.

The Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov, also spoke about the importance of Georgian-Azerbaijani trade and economic relations in various sectors; at the same time, he emphasized the need to deepen them further.
