Natia Turnava: We are discussing interesting new projects with Azerbaijan

"We have discussed joint logistic projects with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, upon which we have recently expanded in Tbilisi within the visit of Azerbaijani delegation. As you know, we are channeling huge amounts in our infrastructure, including port and railway infrastructure, and, certainly, it will be developed if the entire corridor makes use of this infrastructure. This, first and foremost, depends on our relations and cooperation with Azerbaijan," Natia Turnava said this in her statement in Baku after the meeting with Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.

In Turnava's words, remarkably close and amicable relations link the two countries, with this contributing to the development of major joint projects, including acceleration of completion of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.

"We are also discussing completely new and interesting projects in the Black Sea region, in which Azerbaijan's private and state agencies may be involved, with this boosting competitiveness of the entire corridor," Turnava said.

According to the Georgian Minister of Economy, the two parties have also focused on joint energy projects as Georgia is developing its energy infrastructure immensely rapidly.

"I have familiarized my colleague with the initiative envisaging installation of a high-voltage electric power line on the bottom of the Black Sea, which will connect Georgia to the EU energy market. The project will undoubtedly prove more important and attractive if the entire region, including Azerbaijan, gets involved in it. Azerbaijan is our reliable partner as it supplies us with electricity when Georgia's market is deficient," Turnava said.

Within her visit to Azerbaijan, Turnava will attend the Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and conduct a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
