The Partnership Fund of Georgia provided 10,000 face masks to the Imereti Disease Control Center in Kutaisi today.

The face masks were sent from China by the Jiangsu Province Government and Silk Road Investment Corporation to the Partnership Fund.

Executive Director of the Partnership Fund Davit Saganelidze handed over the face masks to the Disease Control Center with Chinese officials and First Deputy Governor of Imereti, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.

He said that the 'world is facing a severe challenge.'

"The support from our friend countries and partners needs to be appreciated," he added.

"The Jiangsu Province and Imereti region became friends in 2016 on the initiative of the Partnership Fund. I want to thank the fund, the Jiangsu Province Government, Silk Road Investment Company, for the assistance," Ioseb Khakhaleishvili stated.

As Imereti Disease Control Director Gocha Giorgidze said, the face masks and protective equipment would significantly contribute to the combat against the novel coronavirus infection.

The Partnership Fund provided Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic and Infectious Diseases and AIDS Center with face masks last month.

Last week, the fund sent the face masks to Armenia.
